Frank Ernzen, 96 of Coffeyville, KS passed away October 2, 2016 at the Grand Villas Nursing Home in Independence, KS.

Frank was born March 23, 1920 to Jacob and Rose (Bower) Ernzen in Petrola, KS.

He married the love of his life Josephine Marie McGuire on February 23, 1941. Frank entered the Army Air Forces on March 1, 1942 at Ft. Leavenworth. He served as T/Sgt., Airplane Maintenance Technician, Shift Chief and then as Line Chief in Greenland, from June 13, 1942 until August 7, 1943. He also served in the same capacity in Presque Isle, Maine from August 1943 until his discharge on October 29, 1945.

Frank was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Knights of Columbus and Holy Name 4th Degree Knights, where he served as a past president. He was also a member of both the American Legion and VFW Post 1022 and a 75 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

In addition to his wife, Josephine, who passed away on May 16, 1991, Frank was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, and one grandson, Jeff Moore.

He is survived by two sons, Phillip L Ernzen and his wife, Mary Anne of Wichita, KS, Richard D. Ernzen and his wife, Sarah of Coffeyville, two daughters; Deanne (Ernzen) Cummings and Carolyn Ernzen, both of Coffeyville, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nephew Doug Ivins and wife Sandy and niece Linda (Ivins) Merritt and husband Bob.

A Rosary Vigil will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20..

Friends and family may sign the register Wednesday, October 5, 2016. From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
