Man Killed in Smashup
NEWPORT, Wash. - Louis L. Ortiz, 30, Elk, Wash., was killed about 8 p.m. Friday when his pickup truck rolled down a steep embankment about 11 miles south of here, the Washington State Patrol reported.
His 10-year-old son, Darin Glasgow, a passenger in the truck, suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was treated and released from the Newport Community Hospital.
Troopers said the truck was southbound on the Lake of the Woods road when it went out of control and over the rocky embankment.
Ortiz was partially ejected from the truck, the WSP said.
