Mildred Marie Starkey Mooney, 94, formerly of Vincennes, passed away on November 17, 2012 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville, Illinois. She was born September 10, 1918 to John and Ethel May (Chapman) Starkey.Mrs. Mooney completed Eldorado Township Grade and High School while living in Eldorado, IL and attended Nurses Training at Christian Welfare School of Nursing in East St. Louis, IL in 1945.Mildred was a nurse for Dr. Frederick Spencer for 15 years and then worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 15 years. She attended the Vincennes First Church of God for 38 years; while there she enjoyed the Keenagers, and also enjoyed the RN Club, the Knox County Farm Bureau Homemakers, and the Royal Oak Ladies Group. She enjoyed living on the farm north of Fritchton for 38 years with her husband, and also the Greenville Illinois Retirement Apartments.Surviving are two step-daughters, Juanita (Calvin) Burge of Greenville, Emma Ruth (Chester) Hanks of Carthage, Illinois; a step son – in law, Rev. David Patterson of Aurora, Indiana; two nieces, Janet (Vic) Loy and Donna (John) LeVaway of Shoreview, MN; a nephew, Michael (Janet) Starkey of Belleville, MI; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Albert Mooney, whom she married in 1964 and died in 1974; a niece, Carol Compero; a sister in law, Mary Wright; a step daughter, Mary Patterson; and a brother Ralph Starkey.Visitation for Mildred will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 24, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev.
