Deceased was born in Scotland on June 17, 1847 and came in a sail boat with his parents to Canada, when but two and on-half years old, coming to Redwood county in 1870 and located on a homestead in Vesta township. He was married to Catherine Johnson in 1878 who together with seven children remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
The children are D G Alexander, George, Glenn, Wm, and Mrs Leona Whittet and Grace Sickman of Redwood county and Charles of Camp Cody, one dieing in childhood; one brother, Adam Alexander of North Yakima; one sister, Mrs John Russel of Kintire township.
He was buried from the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, of which he had long been a member. The funeral sermon pall was preached by Holt. The pallbearers were, Messrs Frank Clague, E A Pease, Geo Whittet Sr, J H Melges, J P Cooper, and Frank Hassenstab. The remains were interred in the cemetery east of town.
