Widow of baseball great Charles Sylvester "Chick" Stahl. Daughter of John and Mary (Maher) Harmon of Roxbury, Mass. She died almost a year to the day of the anniversary of her marriage and just eight months after his suicide, under mysterious circumstances. Richly dressed, her body was found crumpled in the doorway of a tenement in one of Boston's seedier neighborhoods, and at first it was believed she had been strangled and robbed. Later investigation suggested she had abused drugs and alcohol after her husband's suicide and had fallen victim to these abuses. There is no consensus today on the cause of her death.

John Harmon died April 27, 1920, and was survived by Mary.
