ELMWOOD - Katherine E. ''Kay'' Bennett, 86, of Elmwood died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

Born Feb. 7, 1915, in Hulbert, Okla., to Charles and Bessie Ward Thomas, she married Otis Bennett on Jan. 19, 1946, in Santa Monica, Calif. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, John ''Rocky'' of Bigfork, Mont.; and one daughter, Karen (and Robert) Woodcock of rural Elmwood.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

She operated a photography studio in her home, was a former layout artist for printing companies in Peoria, and also was a former portrait photographer for Rex Camera in Peoria.

During World War II, she worked as a purchasing agent at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. She also had worked as a lab technician in the Yosemite Valley Labs of Ansel Adams in Yosemite National Park for several months.

She was a member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church.

Cremation has been accorded, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Patterson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or B.Y.E. Ambulance Service.
