Abram S "Abe" Short was born on December 25, 1852 in White County, Tennessee, the son of Seborn Wilburn Short (1846–1920) and his wife Precia Ann "Pressie" (Nichols) Short (1842–1894).
He was married on December 26, 1891 in Nashville to Ella Jones (1866–1934) [possibly the daughter of Alfred J Jones (ca 1832– ) and Elizabeth (Edgins) Jones (ca 1845– ).
Doing "general work" for Morgan Hamilton Company and living in Nashville, he was 84 years old and a widower when he died on September 7, 1937 at Davidson County Home of myocardial insufficiency. Burial was two days later in Webb Cemetery at Joelton.
