Robert Gene Hess, 73, of Fairmont, died Wednesday (Sept. 28, 2016) in the Fairmont Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 14, 1943, in Rivesville, a son of the late Newton Hess and Mildred Rodesky Hess.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roy and Irene Hess of Rock Lake Community and Homer and Donna Hess of Fairmont; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Jessie and Jody Elliott of Bridgeport, Margaret Floyd of New Martinsville, and Betty Bryant of Detroit, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hess was preceded in death by four brothers, Gary "Pete" Hess, Charles Hess, Bill Hess and Ronald Hess; three sisters, Norma Kruzel, Donna Cross and Genny Nisky.
Mr. Hess was employed by the Rivesville Sanitation Board, Asplundh Tree Service and as a laborer for the Fleming and Curnette farms. He enjoyed taking walks in the country, listening to music and reading.
The family would like to thank the staff and employees of the Fairmont Health & Rehabilitation Center and Amedisys Hospice Care for their love and support.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second St., Rivesville. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. The committal service will follow in the McCurdysville Cemetery in Monongalia County.
