Hugh Ashton Alexander

Son of Mae Florence Collins Alexander and Willie Vernon Alexander, Sr., Grandson of Newton Isaac Collins, Jr. and Sara Elizabeth Harrington Collins, Great Grandson of Newton Isaac Collins, Sr. and Grace Kendall Collins. He is of the fourth generation descendents of Newton Collins, Sr.

On the 25th day of June in the year of 1933, a baby boy was born to Mae Florence Collins Alexander and Willie Vernon Alexander, Sr. in the town of Pilot Knob, Texas near McKinley Falls.

He received his education in Pilot Knob at the family's school that his great grandfather Newton Collins, Sr. built on the family land and in Austin, Texas. He graduated from the old Anderson High School.

A graduate of Huston-Tillotson, he was brought up in the church his great grandfather built on the family's land in Pilot Knob and Wesley United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. Hugh worked various jobs and his most memorable was for the University of Texas and the Dr. Pepper Company.

Hugh was a very proud man with a great sense of humor, awesome character and a joy to be around. He always had something to say that just made you laugh and or smile. He loved all sports, playing his acoustic guitar and a blast blowing his harmonica. He loved and cherished all of his children.

Hugh Ashton Alexander is preceded in death by his parents Willie Vernon Alexander, Sr. and Mae Florence Collins Alexander; his sons Hugh Donald Alexander and Reginald Keith Alexander; his brothers Willie Vernon Alexander, Jr., Collins Hoover "Herman" Alexander, Sr. and Titus Edgar Alexander; and sister Theresa Alexander Stevenson.

He leaves to mourn his three loving daughters, Debra Alexander, Jeanette Alexander Davis and Marilyn J. Alexander; two devoted nephews Ronnie Alexander and Hoover Alexander, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandson Noziyah Alexander; and a host of other nieces and nephews, family and friends.
