She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son Guy, and her brother, Ralph.
Garna is survived by her husband, John Prinslow Boyd; two daughters, Kathreene and Jayme; four grandchildren, Jayme, Khara, Daniel, and Luke and four great-granddaughters.
Garna's family moved frequently during the depression. At various times she called Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona and California home. During World War II she worked in the shipyards on Terminal Island and later worked at Autonetics in Anaheim. In 1961, while raising her daughters, she met and married John Boyd. After John's retirement in 1990, they moved to Big Bear City. Big Bear had always been a special place for John and Garna. She loved to have family spend time up on the mountain and they hosted many gatherings where Garna displayed her culinary talents. In 2002, due to health and cold winters, they moved to Murrieta to be closer to family.
Animals were Garna's passion. She was always surrounded by several loving dogs. During their life together, she and John raised birds, Quarter Horses, and Appaloosas
… but she always loved her dogs.
A Graveside Service held on Friday, May 14th at Riverside National Cemetery.
