Obituary from Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Homer LA:

Homer, LA: Funeral services were held for Edward L. Bolling, Jr., 87, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R.B. Moore and Rev. Terry Willis, officiating. Interment followed at the Homer Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 p.m.

Mr. Bolling was born July 25, 1929 in Homer to Edward Lamar Bolling, Sr. and Edna Odessa Bridwell Bolling. He entered into rest Tuesday, Sept. 27th in Ruston following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bolling and his wife, Joan, were owners and operators of the Homer Flower Shop and Homer Dry Cleaners for over 40 years. He was Past President of the Claiborne Parish Police Jury, member of the Claiborne Parish Dive Recue Team, Homer Fire Department, the First United Methodist Church and served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Bolling was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Cameron and one brother, J.B. Bolling; and two sisters-in-law, Eylene Bolling and Elizabeth Bolling Rogers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan Camp Bolling of Homer; one daughter, Sabrina Bolling of Homer; one son, Eddie Bolling of Ruston; one brother, Ray Bolling of Homer; two grandchildren, Mandy Smith and her husband, John Robert and Brittney Smith and her husband, Roger; three great-grandchildren, Roe, Joanna and Blakely.

Pallbearers were Roger Smith, John Robert Smith, Butch Lee, Billy Frye, Wayne Perry and Ed Watson. Honorary pallbearers were W.E. Hawthorne, Ellis Smith, Julius Peterson, Butch Crow, Rex Young, Joe Copeland and John King.

For friends considering memorials honoring Mr. Bolling, his family suggests the First United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ella Pearl Isiah for her loving care and longtime friendship.
