He was born on October 26, 1911, in Firth, Nebraska. He was a 1930 graduate of Liberty High School. He married Ellamae Black on December 29, 1932, in Summerfield, Kansas. He was a parts man for Beatrice Iron and Metal. He also sold cars for Beardmore and Carriage. He was a member of First Christian Church, Beatrice, Nebraska. He sang in the choir. He was a member of the Loyal Philathian sunday school class. He enjoyed golfing and watching baseball.
Survivors: daughter, Marilyn Carstens and husband, Gary, of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandson, Jay Carstens and Vicki Kirchhoff of Lincoln; granddaughter, Jill Tee of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Black of Wymore; brother-in-law, Bob Black and wife Mildred, of Beatrice; nieces and nephews.
