LaDonna Taylor Barker

October 11, 1934 ~ September 24, 2016

Our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and sister, LaDonna Taylor Barker, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with health issues.

She was born October 11, 1934 in Vernal, Utah, and the oldest child to Francis Leo Taylor and Tessabell Galloway.

She married her sweetheart, Robert William Barker, on August 17, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

In her earlier years, LaDonna was a caregiver to many of the children in her Clearfield neighborhood, and she loved each child as her own. She enjoyed camping with family and neighbors, and traveling to many of the states with her husband and children. After her sweetheart passed in 1990, she kept her family close through phone calls, personal visits, and family gatherings.

LaDonna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many auxiliaries. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother and was a fabulous cook who prepared many pies, eclairs, and desserts for her family. Grandma’s door was always open, where you were greeted with a smile, warm hugs, and lots of treats. She always had a listening ear that left you feeling accepted and loved. We will miss the card games, sleepovers, and hilarious stories she told about life. She was always willing to help others, and supported all her family in their many activities. Her family members were the jewels in her crown.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Leo and Tess, siblings, Everett Taylor and Janet Johnston, daughter, Annette Peterson and sons-in-law, Dennis Thompson and Michael Parker.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Tidwell, sisters in-law, Donna Barker and Delta Spendlove, son, Larry Barker (Joan), daughters, Valerie Thompson and Shelly Parker, and son-in-law, Steven Peterson. She has ten grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Syracuse 1st Ward Chapel, 720 South 2500 West. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church, as well as Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery, 1250 South 1000 West.

The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Rehab Care Center and Applegate Home Care and Hospice for their loving care and service in behalf of LaDonna and her family.
