Dr. Spector was a graduate of Long Island University and Boston University. He founded Temple's public opinion institution in 1967 and was also a professor of sociology at the university.
He was a member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Public Opinion Researhchers, Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
Dr. Spector was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ellin Karlin; two daughters, Carol and Wendy Spector; four stepsons, Eric, Gary, Mark and Larry Michelson; a sister, Mrs. Rachel Hirsch; and a brother, Reuben. He was interned in Shalom Memorial Park.
