Robert Ellis "Bob" Ashdown

Early Life: Bob was born August 13, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Ellis and Mary Hill Ashdown, the second child of seven. When he was three years old, they moved to Orem, Utah, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Orem High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He attended Brigham Young University where he played football and received his BS degree in Education. He began his career in coaching and teaching in Nampa, Idaho. He later moved to Bountiful, Utah, where he taught at Viewmont High School, coaching football and track. Ten years later, he moved his family to Orem, Utah, where he worked at Geneva Steel and drove school bus for Alpine School District. He taught Drivers Education at Orem High School for 23 years. During that time, he also received his Masters Degree in Professional Leadership. He married Francine Walters for time and all eternity on June 13, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together this summer. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bob served in many positions including: bishop of the Aspen Fifth Ward. He loved working with the youth and especially enjoyed being at Scout camp and Young Women camp. He spent his life dedicated to his family, friends and neighbors. He will be remembered for his work ethic, selfless service, love of sports and the outdoors. Robert "Bob" Ellis Ashdown passed away at his home in Orem, Utah, on September 22, 2016, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 71.
Survived By: His wife, Francine; their six children: Jeffrey (Celia) Ashdown, Amy (Derrick) Perrins, Casey (Jamie) Ashdown, Carrie (Nathan) Perrins, Matthew (Aubrey) Ashdown, Tami (Chris) Farrer; 22 grandchildren; and his siblings: Ilene (Calvin) Alleman, Nola (Jerry) Finch, Shirley (Neil) Hathaway, Joyce McStotts (Tom Halliday), Ken (Anne) Ashdown and Kay Lee Ashdown.
Preceded In Death By: His parents, Ellis Ashdown and Mary Hill Ashdown Barrowes; and his in-laws Raymond F. Walters and Viola Clark Walters.
