Luther Ray Ellis, Sr., age 80, of Broken Bow, OK, fell asleep in death on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Broken Bow Rehab Center.

He was born August 4, 1936, in Orange, TX to Luther L. and Eura Mae (Reese) Ellis; both preceded him in death as well as a brother Marvin and son David.

He is survived by his wife Donna and two sons and a daughter from his former marriage to Patsy Ellis: Luther Ray, Jr.; Andy and Tori Ellis, Orange, TX; Kay and Greg Thorton, Houston, TX; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother: John Ellis and two sisters: May and Roy Dupris, Sally and Jimmy Ward, Orange, TX.

Luther enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, playing music and spending time with his family early in life. For 25 years, he worked on tugboats, retiring as a captain. Later, he took great interest in the Bible and dedicated his life to Jehovah and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. When his health was better, he enjoyed spending time teaching the Bible to others.

A Memorial Service for Luther will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Broken Bow, OK, Daniel Gibson officiating.

A private Inurnment will take place at a later date.
