William was born in Sonnenberg, Prussia. Came to America with parents Christian Golze and Sophie (Hoehne), and sister Dorothia Sophie Golze on the "Brig 17th May" landing in NY from Hamburg; Origins: Sonnenberg; Sternberg; Brandenburg on June 7, 1853.

William A. Golze married Miss Ann B Baker on 17 May 1862 in Pontiac, Livingston Co., IL. ("Brig 17 May" was the name of the ship that took Wm to America) William and Anna had eight children (see Ann). Three children died as infants. Wm Golze of Forest, IL age 45 married second to Mrs. Lou (Phares) Payne 39 of Clinton on Jan 12, 1885 in Clinton, Dewitt Co., IL and divorced her in 1888. William Golze, age 49, saddlemaker born Prusia, son of Christian Golze and mother not listed, married his third wife, Hannah Naegle on Oct. 4 1888 in Decatur, Macon Co., IL. Hannah was 28, single, born TN daughter of Morris Negle and Margett. Cary. They had three children Roscoe, Marguerite, and Lillian. William A. Golze died before Lillian was born. William lived in Will, DeWitt and Macon Co., IL and a few years in Kansas.

William Albright Golze, son of John Golze was born in Frankfort on the Odor, Germany about the year 1841. He was a harness maker and cutter, having thoroughly learned his trade in Germany. He was a musician and sang in one of the cathedral choirs in Germany. He was the director of a band in Maroa (per family scrapbook). His sons George and William A. also directed orchestra or bands. Obituary lists his birth date and birth place as Sonnenberg.

There are no Golze markers for Wm, his wife or infants.
