Robert continued to work as a hired man on area farms until the 1940's when he moved to the Elkton, SD area. In the early 1950's he moved to the Walnut Grove and Westbrook, MN area and continued to work as a hired man for the Fujan brothers in their farming and livestock operation until his retirement.
He continued to live on the farm for some years before moving into the Southside Apartments in Slayton, MN. In 1996 Robert became a resident of the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center in Westbrook, where he enjoyed his fellow residents and the staff very much. He was king of the winter festivities in 1997 and will be remembered fondly for his friendly demeanor and updates on the weather.
A farmer all his life, Robert loved to keep up on the weather and the crops in the local area. He enjoyed taking visits with friends Dean Winter and Wesley Windstorm who would take him to lunch and around the area to check on the crops.
On Monday, January 8, 2007 Robert died at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center at the age of 93.
Robert is survived by two nieces, Betty Courtney of Lake Wilson, MN and Joyce Nielsen of Windom, MN; one nephew, George Bedner of Lumberton, MN; 17 great nieces and nephews; 32 great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends in the community.
His parents, one brother, Rudel Farquer and one sister, Blondell Bedner preceded him in death.
