Robert W. Andrews, 102, of Farmerstown, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Beach City to the late Walter F. and Iva (Secrest) Andrews, and married Leone C. Clutter on July 25, 1943. She died Feb. 22, 2011.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii during Pearl Harbor. He was also present on D-Day and at the Battle of the Bulge.

He was owner/operator of Farmerstown Livestock Auction Barn from 1946-85.

Surviving are children, Carol (Jay) Breeding of Strasburg, Steve (Peggy) Andrews of Wooster, Mitzi (John) Ekers of Clearwater, Fla., and Scott (Muffet) Andrews of Tipp City; grandchildren, Trish (Bob) Scheren, Tiffany (Ralph) Miller, Jason Andrews, Seth (Kate) Andrews, Ashley and Andy Ekers, Hilary and Abby Andrews; great-grandchildren, Ethan Miller, Avery Andrews, Elliot Andrews and Collins Andrews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace; and a brother, John.

Private services will be Monday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, Baltic, with the Revs. James Henniger and John Ekers officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Baltic, where military honors will be conducted.

Friends may call Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 115 Andreas Drive, Sugarcreek (www.smithfuneral.com).
