Bertha M. McClure, 99, Clinton, formerly of Normal, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2006) at Hawthorne Inn at Liberty Village, Clinton.

Bertha was born Dec. 29, 1906 in Hudson, the daughter of Samuel and Cora Siler Hoffman. She married Roy Boughton. He preceded her in death. She later married Orville McClure. He also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two stepsons, Kaywin (Adaline) McClure and Harry (Jan) McClure; one stepdaughter, Audrey Turnbold; 10 nieces and nephews, including Wavia Rheim, who has been caring for Bertha for many years and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Doyle Hoffman, and two sisters, Leona Mae Hoffman and Pearl Gazelle.

Bertha was a beautician and had her own shop for many years. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, Hudson, and was involved with a china-painting guild. She volunteered at the YWCA and made many quilts for them over the years that were auctioned. When she was younger, she was an avid bowler and loved to fish. Bertha was a caring and giving person and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
