I found the family on the 1870 Census, living in Bloomingsberg, Newcastle Township, Fulton Co., Indiana. Harrison Kesler, aged 26, was a farmer by trade. Hannah, aged 25, was home tending to their two young children—Awilda, aged 4, and Alexander, aged 1.
The 1880 Census placed the family in Tippecanoe Township, Marshall Co., Indiana. Harrison, aged 37, was working a new far. Hannah, aged 35, was home with their five children—Awilda, aged 14, Alexander, aged 11, Milo, aged 8, Savilla, aged 8, and Eliza (Lisa on the record), aged 6. Also living with the family was 58-year-old Susan Kesler, identified as Harrison's widowed mother.
On 21 Mar 1891, Eliza married Lafayette Nellans in Fulton Co., Indiana. Lafayette was the son of Moses Nellans and Lucinda Strosnider. Lafayette and Eliza had six children together—Basel Forrest (16 Feb 1892), Villa Fern (8 Jul 1893), Dallas Harrison (7 Sep 1895), Leah Ruth (11 Sep 1898), Gladys Hazel (15 May 1901), and Luella (20 Feb 1906).
The family appeared together on the 1900 Census, living in Rochester, Fulton Co., Indiana. Lafayette, aged 34, was farming. Eliza (using nickname "Lida"), aged 26, reported that she had had four children, and that all four had survived to that census. There with their parents were Basel, aged 8, Villa (aka Fern), aged 6, Dallas, aged 4, and Leah, aged 1.
By the 1910 Census, the family had relocated to Plymouth, Center Township, Marshall Co., Indiana. Lafayette, aged 44, was working a new farm. Lida, aged 36, reported that she had had six children, and that all of them were still alive. All six were there with their parents—Basel, aged 18, Fern, aged 16, Dallas, aged 14, Leah, aged 11, Gladys, aged 8, and Luella, aged 4.
Lafayette and Lida's nest began to empty out in the decade following that census. Basel's sister Fern married Charles Melvin Ferguson on 8 Mar 1913 in Marshall County. His sister Ruth (aka Leah) married Omer Fruits on 25 Nov 1916, also in Marshall County.
The 1920 Census placed the family at 1209 Pearl St. in Plymouth. Lafayette, aged 54, was working for the railroad. Eliza (aka Lida), aged 46, was keeping house. Still living at home with their parents were Basel, aged 27 and working for Ogden Manufacturing Co., Gladys, aged 18 and working as a saleslady in a notions store, and Luella, aged 13 and still in school. On his 1917 WWI registration, son Dallas was living in Queens, New York. I couldn't find him in 1920.
Four years after that census, daughter Gladys married Francis Xavier Sullivan on 14 Feb 1924, the son of John Patrick Sullivan and Mary Iva Plechter. Son Basel also married that decade, exchanging vows with Coral Edith Gibson, the daughter of William Gibson and Lillian Liggett.
Eight years after that census, Lida died on 30 Nov 1938 at age 65.
