The best Dad, husband, grandfather, brother and friend, Raul C. Martinez, age 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, who honorably served in the Korean War. After his military service, he was employed and retired from the US Postal Service.

Raul was an avid reader and had a passion for politics. His generous spirit and love centered around his family. At a young age, he lost his beloved wife, Dora. He devoted his life to the care of their children. Knowing they were all loved, he gave extraordinary love and guidance to their special needs son, Jose Angel who developed into an exceptional young man.

Raul is preceded in death by his wife, Dora H. Martinez and their daughter, Patricia Guadalupe Martinez; his mother Guadalupe C. Martinez and his brother Joe C. Martinez.

He is survived by his children: Robert Raul Martinez and wife, Gina; Jose Angel Martinez; Roy Anthony Martinez and wife, Brandy; Loretta Ann Martinez and husband, Stanley Stansel; Susan Nellie Martinez; Daniel Michael Martinez and wife, Iris; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one great great-grandson; siblings: Jesus Martinez, Ernestina Fields and Humberto Martinez along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with recitation of the Rosary in the chapel at 7:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.

On Wednesday, September 28th a procession will depart Porter Loring chapel at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 1619 S. Flores followed by interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with his beloved wife, Dora.

No one will understand the sacrifices our Dad made for us, for that, we are all deeply grateful for his presence in our lives.
