"Medina County Gazette-February 18, 1916: Levi Ellis, an old and highly respected citizen of this place for a number of years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Ellis, at Blue Island, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 9, aged 89 years and 10 months. Funeral services were held here on Saturday at the Congregational Church, here is still lodged, F. & A. M., officiating. Interment at Leroy." Levi was a farmer, merchant, insurance agent,& school janitor during his working life. He and his wife Hannah had 11 children, including 5 sons. The children are listed with wife Hannah's info.. see her link for that information. (note: His daughter Gertrude was born as Gertrude Elsie Ellis (1863-1939), and married Ralph Bennett Ellis, 1860-1939. Both were grandchildren of Moses Ellis (1792-1876) & Mary (Polly) Bennett Travis (1788-1854), so they were cousins. Levi Ellis was my 2nd great grandfather.
