Edna P. Gilliland, daughter of William Schister and Florence Smith Schisler was born May 3, 1898, in Reno County Kansas. She passed away December 15, 1982, at the Clearview home in Mt. Ayr, Iowa being 84 years of age.
She spent most of her life in Ringgold and Decatur Counties, making her adult home in Lamoni, Iowa. She married Raymond (Jack) Creveling in 1933 who passed away in 1946.
Later she was united in marriage to Hiram A. Gilliland in 1947. He proceeded in death in 1966.
She was one of a family of two brothers and five sisters, one of whom was her twin. Both brothers and four sisters are now deceased.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church as long as she was able.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a sister, Mrs. Vivian Dickson of Lovington, Illinois, three stepchildren and families; Alta Mae Clemmons and Alice Inman of California; Lewis Gilliland of Louisiana; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was lovingly attended in her later years by two nieces, Mrs. Joan Owens of Clearfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Louise Brandenburg of Kansas City.
She will be sadly missed for she was a loyal energetic partner, sister, aunt, and friend when her health permitted.
