The daughter of William and Minnie Schacht born in Plainview, Minnesota, she married William E. Witzke on Feb. 20, 1907 in Elgin, Minnesota. Lydia Dorothy Witzke, 86, passed away in Akron City Hospital after a six-week illness on December 11, 1967.

She lived in Canada for 35 years before moving to Akron in 1946 with her husband. A member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, she is survived by sons: Victor and Donald Witzke, daughters: Margaret Burke, Esther Nowack and Adaline Somers. Surviving siblings: Emma, Nora, Vera, Albert, Irvin, Lloyd and Rufus Schacht from Minnesota. Fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren are left to mourn her passing.

Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Akron, Ohio next to her husband who preceded her in death in 1956.
