Actress. She is best remembered for her portrayal of the innocent love interest Connie in "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" (1952). Born Dolores Freymouth, she was raised in Europe where her father, Michael Freymouth, performed as an acrobat in The Seven Michaels. Discovered by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer producer Joe Pasternak during a War Bond Rally in Los Angeles, California, he was so taken by her charm and beauty, that he arranged for her a film contract and she made her debut in "Girls Town" (1942). Often typecast as a debutante, best friend, society girl, young mother, daughter, or playgirl, she went on to appear in over 15 feature films; some of which include "Hi, Buddy" (1943), "Moonlight in Vermont" (1943), "Patrick the Great" (1945), "Holiday in Mexico" (1945), "Thrill of a Romance" (1945), "Brick Bradford" (1947), "My Dear Secretary" (1949), "Mr. Soft Touch" (1949), "Bandit King of Texas" (1949), "All The Kings Men" (1949), "A Woman of Distinction" (1950), "The Asphalt Jungle" (1950), "Wait Till The Sun Shines, Nellie" (1952), "Dreamboat" (1952), "Roar of the Crowd" (1953), "Carnival Story" (1954), and "Dial Red O" (1955). With the advent of television, she became a household name appearing in various guest spots on such syndicated sitcoms as "Big Town," "The Magical World of Disney," "Lux Video Theater," "It's a Great Life," "Rescue 8," "Mike Hammer," "Perry Mason," "Have Gun - Will Travel," "Bachelor Father," and "Tightrope". During her career, she was a model for the Walt Disney Corporation, was active with the California State Democratic Committee, was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, was a chairwoman for The March of Dimes, and was married to notorious gangster Johnny Stompanato from 1953 to 1955; the union ended in divorce. Upon her retirement in 1960, she re-married to a successful dentist and spent the remainder of her life living comfortably in the suburbs.
