Edwina Sparks passed from this life on December 5, 2006, in Clarksville, Texas, where she had been residing in a nursing home since 1996. She was born Edwina Earl Austin on May 27, 1922 in Annona, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
On August 25, 1943, she married Clarence Sparks in East Texas. They had one son, T. E. Sparks, who was born October 9, 1944. At the time of their marriage, Clarence had two children, Hubert Sparks and Mildred Sparks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; son, T. E. Sparks; stepson, Hubert Sparks; and one great-step-grandson, Gary Sparks.
Edwina is survived by her stepdaughter, Mildred Phillips and husband, Bobby, of Eldorado, Texas; stepdaughter-in-law, Jessie Sparks of Rankin, Texas; one granddaughter, Melissa Sparks; twelve step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Jones and husband, of Oklahoma; and a special nephew, Ben Peek and wife, Lynell, of Clarksville, Texas.
The memorial service will be Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery.
