Genevieve Bowling Richardson, formerly of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at her home following a long illness.
Born July 31, 1920, at Matoaka, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Anderson Bowling and Esma Francis Ritchie Bowling. Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker who enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed life, her little collections and short trips to enjoy the outdoors. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and those people whose lives she touched. Mrs. Richardson had been a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., since 1969. She was a former employee of Kyle Cleaners and a 1939 graduate of WWHS.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William W. "Billy" Curtis; two brothers, Carlton "Pete" Bowling of Beckley and Carmen Bowling of Blacksburg, Va. She is survived by two daughters, Connie of Marion, N.C., and Susan of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sons, Steve Curtis and wife, Elizabeth, of Clemmons, N.C., John Curtis and wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Devin Richardson of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Yvonne Harrigan of El Paso, Texas; a special friend, Thomas Palladini of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. at the French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel in Albuquerque, N.M., with the Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. The body was cremated after the funeral service. Arrangements by French Mortuary, Albuquerque, N.M.
