HOFFMAN- Lawrence Helmke, 45, died early today at St Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was an employee of the National Gas Pipeline Company, at Hoffman. He was born at Clatonia, Nebraska, the son of Fred and Dora (Hunecke) Helmke. He married Marilyn Degner in 1951 at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. They moved to Hoffman 18 years ago.
Mr Helmke was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Hoffman and was a member of the building committee of the church.
Survivors are his parents, Mr and Mrs Fred Helmke of Beatrice, Nebraska; his widow, Marilyn; three sons, a daughter, and a sister Mrs Elaine Hoyle of Beatrice.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev H.K. Scharlemann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.
