People of this community were grieved Monday to learn of the death of Dr. Joseph Hinchman at Brady. This veteran Albany physician passed away at the Medical and Surgical hospital following an illness of several weeks, caused by a heart ailment.

The funeral was conducted by the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Brady. Burial was in Brady Cemetery. (This is not correct he is buried in the Albany Cemetery)

Dr. Hinchman, who was 80, was one of the oldest practicing physicians and quit his general practice only6 about a month ago because of his health. He entered the Brady hospital, which is owned and operated by his son, Dr. A. W. Hinchman, two weeks before his death. Dr. Hinchman had been in failing health for two years.

Dr. Hinchman was born at Lynnville, Iowa, May 20, 1867, In June 1889, he was married to Miss Bertha L. Hoover, first cousin of former President Herbert Hoover, who died in September 1896. Two children were born to this union. Mrs. Ralph W. Branson of West Branch, Iowa, and Dr. A. W. Hinchman of Brady.

On July 27, 1903, he was married to Miss Esther A. Whaley of Belle Plain, Iowa. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Donna C. Hawley of Temple City, California.

Mrs. Hinchman and all the children were at the bedside two weeks prior to Dr. Hinchman's death.

Dr. Hinchman attended Peen College, Oskaloosa, Iowa for three years and then entered the medical school of the Iowa State University of Iowa City, Iowa and graduated in February 1893. he had practiced medicine in Iowa and Texas for a total of 54 years.

Dr. and Mrs. Hinchman first came to Albany in 1929, and after a few years, practice here left. They returned about five years ago, Dr. Hinchman taking over the office of Dr. D. G. Curb, who entered the Navy.

Dr, Hinchman had been a member of the Friends church in Iowa all his life. He was loved and respected by his friends and patients and was always in a good humor. He liked to hunt and fish.

All doctors of Brady were named as honorary pallbearers.

Attending the funeral from Albany were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd M. Johnson, Mrs. D. F. Rogers and Mrs. Ed Greer.
