He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Compromise Township, a son of Jelde and Reka (Osterbur) Buhr. He married Doris Jean Lindsey on Aug. 20, 1949, in Flatville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2010.
He is survived by three sons, Marvin (Sherry) Buhr of Marion, Iowa, Gary Buhr of Rantoul and Dennis (Libby) of Rantoul; five grandchildren, Gavin, Ryan, Ashlee, Malloree and Laura; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He farmed his entire life in the Rantoul and Flatville areas. He served on the Ludlow Fire Department for 20 years. He also drove a school bus for Ludlow for many years and delivered bundled newspapers for area kids to deliver for the Rantoul Press. Edgar was a member of the American Lutheran Church and served on the board. He was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served on the Ludlow school board for several terms. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the American Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul. The Rev. Tim Hubert will officiate. Burial will follow at Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul.
