Medical--
Sometime between 1900-1930, in Oklahoma, he Lost fingers in Cotton Gin Accident, then his arm had to be removed.

Residences and Occupations--
He made his home in Oklahoma with his parents and then with his own wife and children. He worked at farming for many years, and also as a garage mechanic, and in a grocery store.

Death and Burial--
He predeceased his wife Della and son James Elbert Collins Junior, and shares the same grave marker with them in the Vernon Cemetery.

James Elbert Collins, 54 year-old Coweta grocer, dropped dead in his store Thursday afternoon, August 15, 1940, of a heart attack. He was born December 30, 1884 at Fort Smith, Sebastian, Arkansas. He was the son of Morgan Daniel Collins and Sarah Jane (Day) Collins. He was married to Della Fay Day, April 27, 1906 in Stigler, Oklahoma.

Funeral services for Mr. Collins were held Sunday in the Coweta Christian Church with burial following in the Coweta Cemetery under the direction of the Green Funeral Home, Wagoner.

Besides his wife, Della, he is survived by seven sons; three daughters, his mother, three brothers and three sisters.
