Long time Alaskan Mary Jane Winn passed away at her home on Aug. 26, 2016.
She was a teacher for approximately 30 years, first in southern Idaho and then in the Anchorage School District. She loved to cook, garden and sew, sharing these talents whenever she could.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through both her teaching and church activities she influenced a large number of the Anchorage, Alaska, population.
Among their adventures, she and Cecil homesteaded on Point MacKenzie, Alaska. They were married for 74 wonderful years. Her family members knew that Mary Jane loved and supported each of them collectively and individually. She loved to be "behind the scenes," often coming and going without anyone noticing, but others realized things were better because she had been there. Her caring for others was evident, and one of her last concerns was, "Take good care of Dad."
Mary Jane Winn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lucy Litson; a brother, Wandal Litson; a sister, Alene Litson Judd; and an infant son, Cary Winn.
She is survived by her son, Wandal Winn and wife Martha; daughter, Macey Jo Kimpton and husband Randy Kimpton; grandchildren, Danelle Winn and Catherine Coon, Wandal Bryan Winn and wife Andrea, Robert Winn and Sara Murphy, Joshua Kimpton and wife Miranda and Jory Craven and husband Tony; and great-grandchildren, Wandal Tyler Winn, Sydney Winn and Cailey Winn, Michael Craven and Hannah Craven, Karsyn Kimpton and Reagan Kimpton.
Services will be held at the Lake Hood Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3340 West 40th Avenue in Anchorage, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at 11 a.m., with Bishop Kenny Petersen presiding.
Interment will be in Burley, Idaho, at a later date.
