Elmira was the daughter of David Buchanan and Lydia Tribby/Tribbey. The Buchanan family lived in a log cabin in Monroe Twp, Holmes Co., OH., for 28 years, and all of their children, 7 sons and one daughter, Elmira, were born there. Elmira died 8 Jan 1842, aged 14 months and 7 days. The family moved to DeKalb Co. IN., in 1854.
