PARRINO, ALMA JEAN, 63, of Louisville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at her home.

She was a native of Louisville, the former Alma Jean Perkins, a certified ophthalmic technician for 28 years, serving 12 years with the UofL Lions Eye Institute. She was instrumental in starting and teaching a program to help ophthalmic assistants obtain continuing education in the metro area (S.T.E.P.). She enjoyed writing and teaching in the field of ophthalmology and singing and playing piano. She was a member of MS Society and St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell R. Perkins and Lillian M. Fowler Perkins.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, one grandson, sister, aunt, two cousins, and several nephews and nieces.

Her funeral Mass will be Noon on Monday at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Bardstown Rd. at Lancashire Ave. with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to MS Society of Kentucky.
