He was the son of William Milton and Monna Lucille (Dachenbach) Mitchell. On Dec 4, 1953, he married Wava Josephine Swaney, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William 'Bill'; three daughters: Nancy (Tim) Harman, Diana Mitchell and Paula (Tim) Ingram; a sister-in-law, Bernie Mitchell; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers: George Milton and Dale William Mitchell; and two sisters: Ellen Louise (Lawrence) Cordrey and Eloise Willoby Mitchell.
A lifetime dairy farmer, he retired from Navistar in 1992. He proudly served in the United States Military during the Korean War. He was also a member of the De Graff United Methodist Church for 7 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife after retirement, reading, big band music, and jigsaw puzzles.
Services will be Jennings Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, West Liberty, with the Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
