Joseph C. Vagner, 73, Merriam, KS passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Joe was born Jan. 17, 1943 in Kansas City, KS to Paul H. and Katherine Vagner. He was a 1960 graduate of Ward High School and Rockhurst College in 1964. On May 25, 1968, Joe married Elaine Storms at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bonner Springs, KS. Joe taught at St. Patrick’s Elementary School for five years and was a professional musician for 40 years. He was a member of Musician Union Local 34-627.
Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine Vagner; two sisters, Clara Dragush, Bonner Springs, KS and Ellen Vagner, Lawrence, KS; eleven nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at St. Agnes Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.
