From the book, A MISSOURI FARM FAMILY, by Stephen Slaughter (1978), page 35: " . . . in 1851 he came to Missouri and established his home in Independence. After the death of his wife he continued to live among his children until his own death in that town August 10 [correct date September 11], 1871, and is buried in the old cemetery at Independence. His wife died while in Southern Missouri just south of Springfield, and is buried there. She was a Miss Mulkey, a member of an old North Carolina family, of Swedish stock."
