Suggested edit: Ramee Hart Bio: He was born in 1863 in New Brunswick, Canada in a French-Canadian community to Marie DesAnges Levesque and Amable Francouer. At baptism, his name was Remi Francoeur. When he was 2-3 years old, he traveled with his parents and baby brother overland about 1500 miles by wagon or cart to Minnesota. Within a few years the family Americanized the name Francoeur to Hart. Remi was the oldest of 10 children. The father and sons mostly worked in the woods in the lumber industry, however in the 1880 and later census Remi is working at farm labor. On July 5, 1887 he marries Elizabeth Coenen. Elizabeth was born in Wisconsin and her parents in Germany, so she probably did not speak French. Their first baby, Alfred, did not survive. Four children were born in Crow Wing, MN; Clarence, Eva, Howard, and Loretta. Remi is recorded as applying to homestead in Saskatchewan, Canada about 1910. The family lived on the farm near Piapot, Saskatchewan. Remi died at age 61 in 1924. There are various spellings of his name; on the headstone it is spelled Ramee Hart. Of note is the fact that one of the daughters married a young man who was homesteading nearby.
