Archie Holiday Carriker was born on December 26, 1895 in Linn County Missouri, the son of William Lafayette and Elizabeth Caroline "Lizzie" (Davolt) Carriker. Edith passed away in 1918 and Archie was later married to Nellie Jane Bradley on July 19, 1925. Archie always referred to his wife Nellie by her middle name, Jane. He often said he had two brothers who were married to "Nellies" so he called his Nellie "Jane". Archie and Nellie had four children, Verla May, James Robert, Walter Edward, and Donald Keith. Nellie had also had a son named Eugene "Dicky" whom Archie later adopted. Archie and Nellie lived thier entire lifetime in the Linn County area of Missouri. Archie farmed the family farm until he retired and they moved to a small house in Rothville, MO. Archie loved to spend time with his family and had a passion for "good old-time-fiddle music" and spent many hours listening to fiddle records. Archie also spent time gardening and fishing. He had a hammock strung between two willow trees and liked to sit in the shade and visit with family and friends. Archie had ten siblings, James William, Maude, Thanks Given, Goldie Ellan, Sylvia Ann, Rens Noah, Trella Leona, Linda Francis, Harry Martin, and Retha Mae.
