Nathan Don Cortez, 28, of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital due to an semi/automobile accident near Hiawatha.
He was born on August 27, 1988 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Chris and Mona Ramirez Cortez.
Nathan worked as a grinder for Wenger Manufacturing in Sabetha, Kansas.
Nathan & Felicia Bottom were together for nine years prior to getting married on August 2, 2014 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hiawatha, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife; Felicia Cortez of the home, Hiawatha, Kansas, two sons; Izayah Cortez and Carson Cortez both of the home, Hiawatha, Kansas, his parents; Chris and Mona Ramirez Cortez of Horton, Kansas, a sister; Alicia (Josh) Payne of Meriden, Kansas, a brother; Chris (Shawna) Cortez Jr. of Gardner, Kansas, grandparents, Greg and Evelyn Ramirez of Lawrence, Kansas, a nephew, Ethan Luzier, four;nieces, Aubrey and Mya Cortez, Rylee and Morgan Payne, a sister-in-law; Juana Aguirre of Hiawatha, Kansa, two brother-in-laws; Noah Aguirre of Highland, Kansas and Eli Bottom of Falls City, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Roberta Bauman and Antonio Cortez.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening with visitation to follow at the St. Leo's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nathan Cortez memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary.
