Adell Marlar, 81, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Coahoma with her grandson, Matthew Marlar and Rev. Mark Winn, pastor, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

She was born March 19, 1935 in Ira, Texas and married Howard Alexander Marlar October 23, 1953 in Pampa, Texas. He preceded her in death March 2, 2007.

Adell was a longtime resident of Iowa Park where she was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She moved to Big Spring in June of 2007. Her faith was important to her and she immediately became an active member of First Baptist Church of Coahoma. Adell loved all crafts including ceramics, painting and wood working.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Marlar and wife, Aletha of Big Spring and Michael Wayne Marlar and wife, Tommie of Elgin; four grandchildren, Josh Marlar and wife, Jessica, Matthew Marlar and wife, Sara, Sarah Marlar and Rachael Marlar; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Jonah, Eliana and Genesis; and one sister, Annie Miller and husband, Paul of Odessa.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, William Avery Thompson and Myrtle Ellen Brown Marlar; and two brothers, Lonnie Thompson and Truett Thompson.

The family suggests memorials to Gideon's International, P. O. Box 133, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0133.
