Walter C. Konizeski, 99, of Bremerton, WA, known as Koni by friends and workmates, passed away at Hospice Care Center, in Bremerton, on July 15, 2012. He was born November 11, 1912 to Walter and Lillian (Meador) Konizeski in Walla Walla, WA. Raised and attending schools in the Long Beach area of Southwest Washington, he moved with family to Everett in his senior year and graduated there. He spent thirty years as a machinist tool and die maker and planner/estimator at PSNS. He was drafted into the US Army in Sept 1946, serving as Private, then honorably discharged in Jan 1947 and returned to PSNS. He retired there in 1968 due to failing vision. In 1938, he married Margaret Blamey in Bremerton, WA, and they had three children... In 1971 he married Lucille T. (Remelmeyer) Smith, living in Bremerton for the past forty one years until his passing.

A member of the Masons, he loved sailing, astronomy, and listening to classical music with friends. As a young man, he played bass viol for a time with the Bremerton Symphony, and he loved playing with the Oldtime Fiddlers. Although blind for the last 45 years of his life, he was inquisitive, had many interests, and kept very busy. Koni is survived by his wife Lucille, of the family home; brother Richard of Port Townsend; children ... He was preceded in death by his parents and sister; two grandchildren and a step-daughter. At his request, there will be no memorial service. Donations in his name can be made to Hospice of Kitsap, PO Box 3416 Silverdale, WA 98383. Smooth sailing, Koni.
