She was born to the late EC and Ada Austin on November 15, 1935 in Concord, NC. She was preceded in death by husband Aubrey Neil Pickard, father EC Austin, mother Ada Austin Jessup, stepfather W.O. Jessup, father/mother-in-law Weldon and Laveene Pickard and sisters-in-law Phyllis Pickard and Peggy Nigro.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Todd and Angie Pickard of Lawrenceville, GA. She has 4 wonderful grandchildren, Connor Pickard a sophomore at Clemson University, Maddie Pickard of Duluth GA where she is a high school sophomore, Brad Jenkins and his wife Kaleigh of Hoschton GA, Brittany Fitch and her husband Caleb of Anchorage AK and one great granddaughter Avery Fitch. She has one sister and brother-in-law Tony and Ann Short of Winston Salem, NC, two nieces Lisa Hobbs of New Fairfield, CT and Annette Hodges of Sarasota, FL, one great niece Michele Anderson of Cumming, GA and two step-sisters Billie Pegram of Edwards, MO and Margaret McClellan of Greensboro, NC.
She retired from Burlington Industries after 40+ years of service. She volunteered for many years in the Pulmonary Clinic at Moses Cone Hospital until she was unable to continue. This service was extremely important to her as she gave back to those that had helped her so much.
