Prior to that time she lived in Hartford, CT, for many years. She graduated from Charlestown High School in 1926, the University of New Hampshire in 1930 and Yale University School of Nursing in 1945, graduating as a registered nurse.
Miss Ahern retired in 1976 from the Connecticut State Health Department, after working for 21 years in public health nursing for the state. She was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church. The family includes four brothers; two sisters;, nieces, nephews and cousins.
