His 2nd wife, Mary W (nee Tuttle) was born July 13, 1920 in Goldsboro Northwest, North Carolina, the daughter of Herndon Wescott Tuttle and Amy Joseph. She died May 3, 1982 age 61 in Gainesville, Alachua co., FL. They were parents of a daughter and two sons.

MARY nee Tuttle's BROTHER: Albert J Tuttle born Nov 11, 1922 in Wayne, NC, died Jan 13, 2001 in Palm Bay, Brevard co, FL. His wife, Charlotte Tuttle born Jan 8, 1913, died Oct. 22, 2007. Both were buried in Holy Trinity Church Memorial Garden, Melbourne, FL
Dr Haydn was a native Clevelander who established a career in the literary field. He lived in Connecticut for many years. He wrote several books, including ""Words and Faces". It was a book of memoirs (autobiography, esp. of his professional years), published posthumously in 1974.
He was editor-in chief at Crown Publishers and also Editor In Chief at Random House form 1955 until he, Pat Knopt and Michael Bessie formed Atheneum Press in 1960.
He was editor of the American Scholar, the quarterly of Phi Beta Kappa. While living in Cleveland, he taught at Hawken School and at Cleveland College of Western Reserve University. His grandfather, Hiram Collins Haydn, had been president of Western Reserve University and his father, Dr Rev Howell Merriman Haydn also taught there.
Dr. Hiram Haydn also taught at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He met his 2nd wife, Mary W (nee Tuttle) when she took his English Lit. class there.
He was author of: "The Counter‐Renaissance," history of intellectual crosscurrents. Five novels, "The Hands of Esau," "The Time Is Noon," "Manhattan Furlough," "Report From the Red Windmill" and "By Nature Free." His autobiography, "Words Faces."
Both Dr Haydn and Mary W. (nee Tuttle) were cremated and their ashes buried in Chilmark Cemetery (aka Abels Hill Cemetery) There may still be a low-to-the-ground stone sculpture-like marker where their ashes were blended with the roots of a dogwood tree.
