Last Tribute Paid to Willie Murray

Tribute was paid Saturday to Mrs. Willie (EMERSON) Murray funeral service for her at Crown Heights Methodist Church. The former wife of former Gov. Johnston MURRAY died Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

About 200 persons, including former Gov. Henry S. JOHNSTON, attended the 30-minute service conducted by Rev. Wayne COFFIN. Friends from all walks of life began gathering at the church a half-hour before the 10:30 a.m. service.

"Perhaps no other woman has ever influenced the state of Oklahoma as much as she was able to do," Mr. COFFIN said. "Calling the ceremony a "service of love and faith and of memory," Mr. COFFIN recounted Mrs. MURRAY's life and her accomplishments. "He praised the "confidence and affection that she inspired in those who touched her heart, the lavish contribution of her many talents. There was the remendous courage that was hers in the unequal struggle with disease and her loyal service of love and devotion to the state which she so deeply revered."

Mr. COFFIN quoted the 23rd Psalm and pointed out that Mrs. MURRAY had taught girls' Sunday school and conducted the children's choir.

Burial was to be at Weatherford, her birthplace.
