Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a marketing executive for Union Oil of California. . He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the St. James Golf League. Robert loved to spend time with his family, friends, and on the golf course. He was a happy positive person and was loved by all. “Beautiful Bob” was a good dancer and loved a nice vodka.
Robert is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Marilyn (nee Glasgow), whom he married on August 20, 1955 in Chicago, IL and his children, Garth (Norma Torres) Petzold, Jamie Petzold, Elizabeth “Liz” (Jay) Cohen, and John Petzold of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; grandchildren, Emily (Troy) Thompson, Tracy (John) Robertson, Hallie Cohen, Abby Cohen, and Ben Cohen; great-grandsons, Treydn Thompson and Lukas Thompson: and brother, Ronald Petzold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Brian Petzold.

Prayers 9:15 am, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the funeral home proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Hts., IL 60004 for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
