She was the daughter of Revolutionary War Soldier William W. Gooch and his first wife Keziah Ann Hart.
She married Jesse Benton in NC. He died in 1791, and around 1800 she
and her eight children moved to what is now Leipers Fork, Williamson County, TN.
Her oldest son was Missouri Senator Thomas Hart Benton.
