There is a marker for Christian Bettschen in Volo Cemetery, died May 8, 1862 at age 53. The cemetery is just west of Volo near his home in Goodale (now Grant) Twp. He purchased Lot 30 in which the marker sits (see the Wauconda Township cemeteries web site and look at the burial listing which includes a transcription of the cemetery plat). I have seen the marker which is still somewhat legible. Also in the lot is Ernest Huntley. Christian's daughter Mary wed Charles Huntley in 1855, though it is not entirely clear that this is her son. I have not seen markers for any other Bettschen family in Volo.
Ernest Huntley buried in Christian's lot. Looks to definitely be the son of Cornelius M Huntley and Nancy M nee Potter. Marker seems to indicate parents as C M and N M Huntley, though it's very worn. Cornelius was the brother-in-law of Mary Bettschen who was long deceased by this time. The burial took place well after the death of Christian, too. Best guess is that Cornelius needed a gravesite and arranged it with the the remaining Bettschen family. He and Nancy moved to Iowa later.
